Lax is Alive and Well in NW Ohio

(Editor's Note:  Thanks to Coach Ken Lempert for bringing us up to date on lax activities in NW Ohio. If you are affiliated with any of the teams mentioned below, ohlax.com wants to hear about what's happening with your team)

Lacrosse is alive and doing well in Northwest Ohio. In the Toledo area, where I coach boys youth lacrosse and officiate at all levels, there are multiple boys/men's teams. They include a Youth Program being run through the Sylvania Recreation Dept including elementary through high school teams, four high school club teams (St. Johns, Sylvania, Wolfpack, Perrsyburg), and club teams at the University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University. A Glass City Lacrosse Club has also been intermittently active, but I do not know of their current status.

The girls/women's teams have also been active. Three girls high school club teams are anticipated in our area this spring, with the Maumee Valley Country Day School planning to start a new club team(plus Ottawa Hills and Sylvania Rec Club).  Women's club teams are fielded by the local universities.

The Sylvania Recreation Dept this winter has added a boys indoor program in its wonderful new Tam-O-Shanter Field House. For sure lacrosse is growing in Northwest Ohio.
