Week!

Midwest Lacrosse/CG's Auto Paint & Body - Players of the Week

This page will recognize the previous week's top girls and boys high school players from Central Ohio, who were outstanding both on and off the field. Players will be selected through nominations from coaches and fans and while goal scorers and goal keepers are important, we will also be recognizing those unsung heroes on the defense as well. You can email your player nomination to news@ohlax.com.  Just provide us with the players stats for the week and a little bit about their off the field activities. Nominations must be received by 6:00 PM ET, Sunday evening.  ohlax.com would like to thank the Midwest Lacrosse Co. of Hilliard, Ohio, and CG's Auto Paint & Body of Worthington, Ohio for sponsoring this page and enabling us to recognize these outstanding student/athletes.

Midwest Lacrosse/CG's Players of the Week for April 15-22

Boys

Girls

Steven Forsythe, Senior, Defensemen

Dublin Coffman

High School

Our "Player of the Week" had two very solid games, but one he'll remember for a long time.  Steven Forsythe not only helped propel the "Rocks" to their #1 Ranking in the state's Division I poll, but his aggressive and hardnosed play helped the Rocks snap Upper Arlington's 71 game home winning streak with an 8-5 Coffman win.

There was no let down on the weekend, as Forsythe and his mates knocked off previously unbeaten Hudson 10-7.  In the words of the old coach, "offense wins games, defense wins championships"  Could be that Forsythe's defense could be leading the Rocks to a State Championship in 2002.

Congratulations Steven from Midwest Lacrosse, CG's and OHLAX.com.

Colby Szlag, Senior, Attack

Upper Arlington

High School

A very talented, and unselfish player on a very talented team, that describes our "Player of the Week" Golden Bear senior Colby Szlag.  Her 15 goals on the week, were three more than UA's four opponents scored total. She also had 5 assists, as the Golden Bears won four in a row for the week.  "The great thing about Colby is that she practices as hard as she plays," were the comments of her coach. "Her shot selection this week was just incredible."

Colby has great field sense and can be a tough defender when called upon.  She made three interceptions off attempted clears this week as well.

Congratulations Colby from Midwest Lacrosse, CG's and OHLAX.com.

Other "Player of the Week" finalists this week were Eric O'Brien, St. Charles, Adam Morrison, Hilliard Davidson, Martha Ferger, Columbus Academy, and Kelly Windell, Worthington Kilbourne, and Ann Lutz, Hilliard Davidson

Midwest Lacrosse/CG's Players of the Week for April 8-14

Boys

Girls

Josh Wilkerson, Senior, Goalie

Dublin Scioto High School

Josh had an outstanding week between the pipes, as the Scioto Irish went 2-1 on the week.  His 44 saves while allowing only 26 goals were the key to the Scioto wins.

Josh had 15 saves in the 16-10 win over Davidson, 14 against Cincinnati Moeller and 15 in the tough 9-8 win over WRA.

Congratulations Josh, from OHLAX.com, Midwest Lacrosse and CG's.

Krista Niemie, Senior, Midfielder

Hilliard Davidson High School

The Davidson Wildcats went on a three game win streak last week, due in large part to the play and leadership of Krista Niemie.  Niemie had 4 goals in the Cats three wins over Wellington 6-4, Toledo St. Ursula 15-1, and Medina 12-5.  Her play on both ends of the field and her ability to start the Davidson transition game made her our "Player of the Week".

Krista is also a gifted artist, having her works displayed at the Govenor's Art Show and has received a number of awards.

Congratulations, Krista from OHLAX, Midwest Lacrosse and CG's.
