Ohioans Compete in NCAA Final Four

Five former Ohio High School lacrosse players were among the elite, as their teams competed in the NCAA Final Four at Rutgers University on Memorial Day weekend.

Upper Arlington's Lou Braun is a freshman midfielder for the #1 seeded Johns Hopkins Blue Jays.  Hopkins lost 9-11 to the Princeton Tigers in the first semi final game.

The second semi final between Syracuse and Virginia was like old home week. Four former central Ohio players did battle.  Two former Golden Bears play defense for Virginia.   Senior Mark Koontz,(right)  and long stick sophomore Brett Hughes(left) were in game two.  Hughes #6 for UVA, saw  plently of action in the center of Virginia's zone defense. Virginia lost to Syracuse 11-12 in 2 overtimes.

The Syracuse double overtime win over Virginia and their exciting 13-12 win over Princeton in the finals made two central Ohio players part of the National Championship team.  Freshmen Andrew Boyle (left) is a former St. Charles standout and UA's Kyle Olson (right) are members of the National Champion Syracuse Orangemen.  Congratulations to both players and their team.

A sixth central Ohio connection in the Syracuse/Virginia semi final was Virginia defender Nick Russo, son of Columbus Landsharks owner Charlie Russo.  Nick is a senior and four year letter winner with the Cavaliers.
