Scerbo Leaves Buckeyes for Duquesne

Duquesne University announced today that Michael Scerbo has been named head women's lacrosse coach. Scerbo, who spent the past four years as an assistant at Ohio State, is just the second mentor in the nine-year history of the DU lacrosse program.

At Ohio State, Scerbo helped guide the Buckeyes to a pair of NCAA tournament appearances (2002 & 2003) and one American Lacrosse Conference title (2003). OSU won a school-record 14 matches in 2003 (14-4) and posted an 11-5 record in 2002. The Buckeyes were ranked 11th nationally by the IWLCA in 2003 and 12th at the conclusion of the 2002 slate - Scerbo's initial campaign at OSU. Ohio State was 36-30 overall during his tenure.

Prior to his move to Columbus, Ohio, Scerbo served as the head women's lacrosse coach at Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C. for five seasons. He was head coach of Limestone's first team in 1997 and quickly developed the program into a national contender. His squad was ranked in the Division II Top Ten from 1998-2001, while producing numerous All-Americans and several Deep South District Team and North-South Senior All-Star Team members. Scerbo posted a 33-24 record at Limestone College including a 10-1 mark - good for a No. 2 national ranking - in his final season in 2001.
